• Employers are largely interested in specific areas like IT (Open Source, Cloud Computing), Creative Design (Multimedia, Writing, and Translation), Marketing (SEM, SEO, Branding) and Operations (Admin Support).
• Elance report underlines the fact that there is a good demand for iPad app developers. Demand for Mobile app development grew at a phenomenal rate of 180%, according to Elance’s internal assessment.
• Android is also among the skills fast increasing in demand. You cannot afford to ignore mobile development – Android in particular.
• While Web development is still on top of the list of highly after skills, the research company states that demand for skilled mobile developers ‘exploded in the year 2009.
• The Elance report offers a glimpse into a few other noteworthy trends. For example, PHP, HTML, MySQL, CSS 5 followed by WordPress are the top five IT skills currently in demand. Article writing is on top of the list of the creative category. Other most-sought after skills are content writing, graphic design, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
