India’s seventh largest operator Aircel entered the Mumbai market facing competition from Airtel, Vodafone, Loop, Reliance and Idea. The company plans on investing approx Rs 1,100 crore in Mumbai which is part of its pan-India rollout. With its entry in Mumbai the company now has services across 17 cellular circles.
The best part is that Aircel will be focusing on its VAS products instead of the tariff battle between the rest of the telecom giants. By 2011 the company aims at creating 15% of its revenue from VAS products.
Malaysian company Maxis has 74% stake in Aircel. Currently Aircel is promoting its VAS products through TVC’s featuring Indian cricket captain Dhoni.
