According to a recent report by Digitimes, Apple‘s 7.85-inch rumored iPad is expected to go into production, in late 2012. It is believed that Apple is considering to launch the iPad 3 around early spring, and start shipping the smaller model before the fall of 2012. This would also mean that summer would be the potential launch date of Apple’s 7” iPad.

While there are multiple sources claiming the launch of Apple’s never-before-seen “mini-iPad”, the company hasn’t commented about it yet. Considering the nature of this device, Apple will need to ‘re-resolution” the user interface for small screen size, between  9.7-inch iPad models and  4-inch iPhone models.

If the rumors are true, Apple will be required to have three device resolution for the app developers, something that the company has been trying to avoid. Presently, Google‘s Android OS runs on a plethora of devices, each with different screen resolutions. Due to this, most app developers face issues with deep-seated fragmentation.
