Drawing on a massive database of information consisting of numerous terabytes, the system combines knowledge, and presents it as a completely new package. The services that Wolfram Alpha provides include answering question, predicting future behaviour, cross-referencing data types and solving equations.

So-called “computational knowledge engine” boasts of access to an extensive repository of information. The final figures are 10tn pieces of data which are ingeniously filtered through 50,000 models and algorithms. Well with these numbers it surely seems like a gigantic catalogue.

The matchless search engine is based on Mathematica, a popular software amongst engineers and scientists. The software designed by Alpha’s very own author Stephen Wolfram crunches data from its users and gives out relative results.

The searches are sourced from some of the esteemed and trustworthy sources – from CIA’s World Factbook to the United States Geological Survey and even the Chambers Biographical Dictionary, to name a few.

Though Wolfram Alpha is great on science and maths it seems perplexed by queries pertaining to social sciences or even popular culture. We know that WolframAlpha.com is surely going to add up to our virtual intellectual quotient. In fact I see a revolution of sorts which will fuse.

But will it survive is the question?

TRAI would be teaming up with US-based Telcordia Technologies Inc. to introduce ENUM (Electronic Number Mapping) services.

Well for the ignorant ones ENUM technology bridges your telephone system and the Internet. The technology helps convert traditional telephone numbers into a universal identifier for varied Internet services. The ENUM technology lets subscribers to use their mobile numbers as an email address. So two individuals simply need to exchange contact numbers to explore the undying possibilities of the Internet.

Though it is gong to take a while for Indians to implement the US will witness the launch by next year. Experts the world over believe that the juxtaposition of ENUM technology and VoIP would be a boon to the telecom world.

When the site is done loading, the text reads ‘We like to take things lightly too. So there are no heavy-duty fundas or quick fix solutions on this site. In fact, there’s no website! Nothing. Nil. Nada.’

In their recent venture they would be customising the good-old Tinkle (a famed children’s book) for mobile games. The tie-up with Synqua Games will help them build a complete new ecosystem for their indelible characters. Users using the Google Books came across an announcement propagating a new “Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity” (CADIE). Based on the stereoscopy technology CADIE supposedly brings you the web in 3D. Google eve provided “printable glasses” to experience the web in 3D.

Their explanation of the creation is the disconnect between the online and real world. Apparently the technology converts a web page into anaglyph format in real time.

There has been no announcement as to what amount of funding will be involved, or in what areas this funding would be made available. But since this fund is being led by Bill Maris, who is also the founder of Burlee.com, we can expect the fund to be focused mainly on American markets, at least in the initial stages.

Over the years, Google has acquired many startups all over the world, but has very few direct investments. Seedfund and Ventureast are two of the seed stage ventures in India that they have invested in. These two will not be affected with the launch of Google Ventures, as it will be focused mainly around the US.The only aspect that startups need to be wary of is the fact that Google may look to acquire.
