Earlier today, the IT hub of India, Bangalore woke up to a rude shock. Close to 2 lack accounts were hacked on the popular social network Facebook and morphed photos of the victims found their way on the net.
The problem started when users started to click on malware links which led them to blank pages. The next day, these users
got a shock of their lives when pornographic links found their way on these users Facebook ‘Wall’.
What made matters worse was the fact that these links contained morphed pictures of the users and were set as status messages which found their way on friends news feeds.
Many users filed a complaint against the hacking with the cyber crime department of Bangalore, because of this, the issue came out in the open.
Facebook Spokesperson Andrew Noyes told Fox News that,
“We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue. We are always working to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms. Protecting the people who use Facebook from Spam and malicious content is a top priority for us.”
‘Party till the Wee Hours of Morning’ and ‘Live Strippers in Bangalore’ were some of the malware links that led to the hack attack. A post of popular pop singer Justin Beiber caught in a compromising position also led to dubious pages making users victims of the hack attack.
With Facebook claiming to boost its security measures, this ghastly incident is sure to cause a lot of damage to the social network’s goodwill.
