The Bharati Airtel and MTN deal has been making waves. And why not! If the deal finalises we would have a telecom giant with over 200 million customers and $20 billion in revenue. Both telecom giants have revived talks after a failed attempt last year. But currently Bharati Airtel needs $4 billion to complete its $23 billion merger. airtelThe interesting fact is the interest of HSBC, JP Morgan, Barclays and BNP Paribas to partly fund the deal. The foreign banks are in talks with Airtel with each funding $500 million towards the targeted $4 billion. Though Standard Chartered Bank is the advisor for the deal Airtel would only manage to get $1 billion funding from the entity.
