Bharati Airtel is known for outsourcing its processes to varied companies but this time its decided to enter into a joint venture with Alcatel-Lucent wherein the latter will manage its landline and broadband business.

airtelThe Franco-American company Alcatel-Lucent has successfully transformed fixed-line networks into Internet protocol based offerings in over 40 countries. This is the prime reason Bharati Airtel has signed a JV and would be investing Rs. 2500 crore in a course of 5 years. Bharati will be minority partner in the 26:74 JV.

Bharati’s landline business is the most profitable with annual profit margins of 42.4%. The landline business encompasses fixed-line telephony, Internet and IPTV services.
