It looks like BigFlix.com is trying its luck (to attract customers and eyeballs). The Reliance Entertainment movie rental and video-on-demand (VoD) service will be hosting a contest for the latest Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Luck by Chance’. The BIG Pictures & Excel Productions movie is scheduled for release on the 30th January. 25 winner will get Luck By Chance music CDs autographed by Farhan Akhtar and Konkana Sen Sharma.
As per the press release BigFlix.com had initiated the first film promotion on the portal with the Music of the Month contest that commence this week. Users will have to answer two simple questions by logging on to www.broadband.bigflix.com.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Kamal Gianchandani, COO, BIGFlix.com, said,
“Luck by Chance’ is one of the most awaited movies this year with a very powerful star cast attached to the film. BIGFlix.com which is a destination for all film buffs shall be partnering to promote the film, which will include various initiatives on our acclaimed site and state-of-the-art stores. This film would mark the beginning of some brilliant new careers and it is very exciting for us to be able to be part of that”
BIGFlix.com will promote Luck by Chance across all 112 stores in 10 cities in the country as well to the international audiences through its Video-on-Demand (VOD) site. Other than the contest BigFlix.com will conduct an online marketing campaign and even publicise the film’s music videos, trailers, downloads, movie previews, preview shows and continue with other promotional activities post the movie release like meet-n-greet events with the star cast at select cities.
Ghajini has really paved a new path for online promotion and marketing of Bollywood flicks. In fact BigFlix.com should take inspiration from the success of the Ghajini campaign and launch interactive and engaging online content.
Contests are passé and are just one part of online campaigning. Being a online property BigFlix.com is not really harnessing the potential of the Internet to reach out to its customers. Hope the BigFlix brand manager is reading this article.
