BlackBerry Launches its Own Mobile Apps Stores. Joins Apple & Microsoft in the Battle!
Mobile application stores seem like the new mantra for companies. There has been a barrage of mobile application stores from some of the biggest manufacturers. Research In Motion (RIM) seems like they have been on the “innovative curve” for a while and had the itch to create a mobile application store.
The makers of Blackberry mobile phones have launched BlackBerry App World – an online application store for the smartphone. Currently featuring over 1000 apps, consumers can avail of personal and business applications, including banking tools, games, maps, health/ wellbeing and personal finance applications to name a few.
Users need to download an application to access the BlackBerry App World
Apple’s iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPod has a reached a sales figure of 800 million software downloads. On the other hand RIM is facing competition after Microsoft venturing into the mobile app world with products for Windows Mobile. In line are the Nokia OVI and Android application stores.
BlackBerry Users in US will enjoy Their Favourite TV Shows on Their Handsets.
BlackBerry phone users will now enjoy full-length episodes of famed television shows on their handsets. The television application is titled QuickPlay will only be available to United States users at the beginning. Some of the stations include NBC, CBS and MTV which will be pushing their popular shows through the QuickPlay app.
With $7.99 as a monthly subscription fee users can download their favourite programmes via Wi-Fi network.
