AMD FX CPU, the fabled processor, can achieve speeds up to 8.429 Ghz, which beats the last world record which was again set by AMD earlier this year.

The new FX series of processors offer users enhanced software experiences. The superior technology lets users run multiple applications smoothly. The processors run on the AMD Vision Engine.

WAN-IFRA will now launch the Asian Digital Media Awards, the first of its kind, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. WAN-IFRA is the association of newspapers and news publishers of the world representing about 18,000 publications in five continents. The awards will be announced during the Publish Asia conference, 2010 at Malaysia’s capital city.

The Awards are to appreciate those media companies who have adopted digital media to compete with the changed face of how people consume news in modern times. The awards will be presented on the 24th of November, this year, along with the Digital Media Asia conference that would be held in Singapore.

Thomas Jacob, the deputy CEO of WAN-IFRA CH said, “

Although print remains the newspaper publishers’ core business, it is crucial for them to position their content on all the available digital platforms and devices

”. He further added “

Traditional news media must be ready to effectively compete with digital pure players

”.

The categories will include Best in Cross Media or Best in Online Media. It will also include new categories such as Online Content, Best in Mobile Media, eReader/Tablet and Social Media. Any Asian media company that operates on a digital platform can participate and send in their entries. It will be a good platform for all media companies to exhibit their prowess in the competition. The last date for sending in entries is 30 September 2010.

- Best in digital context – this includes excellence in online video journalism and infographics

- Best in online media –the best websites in the magazine, Newspaper and classifieds category

 - Best in cross media – Cross media editorial coverage and media advertising

- User generated content (UGC)- Best in social media – ground-breaking use of social media (Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, twitter and others)- Best in mobile media

 - Mobile publishing and advertising

- Best in eReaderor tablet – Tablet or iPad and eReader news product

The Digital Media Awards are among the most coveted ones in India’s digital media space, Judged by an independent jury, appreciate excellent work by individuals and organizations in digital media sector, they cover a wide range of categories like web advertising, corporate websites, microsites and debutante websites apart from virals, blogs and mobile VAS.

Among the 23 awards across six prime categories as well as 19 sub-categories Zapak Digital Entertainment shone by winning 3 awards in two separate categories (the only contender to do so). IDMA 2010 attracted over 400 entries. The independent jury for the year 2010 comprised various industry stalwarts including Max Hegerman of Tribal DDB India, Ms Lynn de Souza of Lintas Media Group, Mahesh Murthy of Pinstorm, Rajesh Sawhney of Reliance Entertainment and Alex Kuruvilla of Conde Nast India, among others. Mahendra Swarup of Smile Interactive Technologies headed the jury panel.

The G2 AIDS creative which DigiMouth had reviewed was even a finalist at this years Goafest. It looks like G2 is back with a bang. The creative listed as finalist in the E-mail Marketing category. On the other hand Leo Burnett India, Mumbai got listed in the banner innovation category for their Luxor Highlighters campaign. The same interactive campaign won a bronze in the Cyber Lion category at Cannes 2008. The irony is that Arc Worldwide is the interactive and activation wing of Leo Burnett and has executed the Luxor campaign. But there is no mention of the Arc team in both the awards.

Anyway the Webby finalists will be announced tomorrow. Let’s hope to see some more Indian online / interactive agencies on international awards listings.
