Computer games are often about destruction wherein there are gang-wars and bloodshed. So how about an educational game that warns the world about the hazards of global warming?

In this educational game, Fate of the World, players have to save the world from global warming and climate change. However, the methodology to play it can sound a little weird! Gamers realize that over population is a growing menace and they need to design a virus that kills several millions of people!

Fate of the World

The game leaps 200 years ahead wherein hundreds of plant and animal species are extinct. The game will be open to public on Tuesday, the 2nd of November, and has already got a thumbs-up from environmentalists and gaming experts.

Environmentalists believe that Fate of the World will inculcate in the minds of the youth, the dangers of carbon e

missions and young people can champion the cause of reducing it.

The gamer is a fictional executive of an international climate change panel and is supposed to save the world from droughts, floods and soaring temperatures.

Fate of the World is designed by an Oxford-based design company, Red Redemption, and they have used a

ctual data based on studies and research to give the games a reality touch. Just like any other climate panel meet, the gamers are also given data, research, and a budget to execute policies. The decisions have to be taken to control carbon emissions and reduce the use of non renewable sources of energy.

The game’s tag line is “dramatic global strategy game” and has already caught attention of all gaming enthusiasts. Surely a great way to create a buzz about the burning issue of climate change and involve the common people in it…

This is the picture we paint of a video gamer – a curly haired boy, who has got his t-shirt too tight to cover his belly, Bermudas loosened up to comfort his paunch, eating popcorn and sipping on coke, incapable of moving a limb.

Come November, that perception changes. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect will introduce a unique form of video-gaming for all ardent gamers.

The new version of the Xbox 360 thrives on the aspect of bringing a new style and sense of gaming by eliminating controls and welcoming voice commands and motion activation.

“There is a large segment of the population that doesn’t play games because it’s too complicated to use the controllers. We’re removing the last barrier”, said Mario Coculuzzi, Microsoft’s spokesperson.

The Kinect will see gamers utilizing microphones and 3-D cameras that virtually place them into the game. So if you’ve got to dodge Lionel Messi, or get Max Payne to shoot at a thug, or get Batman to fly off roof-tops, you would indeed have to make an effort. So this version of gaming does not encourage gamers transforming into couch-potatoes per se.

Hitting stores on November 4th, the Xbox 360 Kinect console along with a game called Kinect Adventures will jointly be available at $299.99.

The Kinect will also facilitate video conversations for users via Wi-Fi connections as well as catching movie flicks on the Xbox DVD player.

Positive energy coming your way – Game On!

India gets its ‘apna’ gaming brand. So gamers get set to enter the gaming world with our ‘desi’ gaming consoles.

Noida-based HCL Infosystems has launched its gaming sector and has become India’s first company to enter the gaming zone. Having launched handheld consoles, HCL is now ready to pit against brands like Sony and Nintendo. IT experts say that since the company plans to expand its business, they have taken this move.

The executive vice president of the company, George Paul said, “

We believe that casual games still have a huge market in the pre-teens segment and HCL is readying various devices and games to target this segment

.”

HCL ME is designed for kids between the four and 15 age group. The prices range between Rs799 and Rs4, 990, which is less expensive than Sony PSP and Nintendo DS which cost Rs5, 000.

The company has also improved its technology by launching two new HCL ME-converged devices that include multimedia options like imaging, recording TV programmes and voice recording on the consoles.

The HCL ME F25 and the HCL ME D75, K28 are for girls and boys respectively. The ones launched for the girls are heart-shaped and that for the boys is robust in black. Moreover, HCL is also packaging about 25-100 game titles free with its consoles bundle.

The Indian gaming industry is gaining impetus. Reports by industry analysts predict that the entertainment industry in India is going to be a Rs1, 160 crore market by 2014. Currently, there are about 300,000 handheld consoles in the country with an annual a 35 % growth rate.

HCL’s move has given its competitors some jolts as rival company Nintendo now eyes at 3D gaming. Sony, too, is coming up with a portable device that has features of a handheld game machine, netbook computers and an E-book reader.

Now with the launch of gaming consoles by another biggie, the competition is going to get fierce. We don’t know who is going to take the lead. But what we do know for sure is that with better technology, wider range and effective pricing, the gamers are going to win this game because they have so much more to choose from.

One of the front runners in the online gaming industry, Zapak, has finally joined forces with Facebook-oriented international gaming apps publisher and developer, 6waves.

Now, the Indian market will be acquainted with the gaming biggie; all thanks to Zapak. 6waves has a well-established mark with a gamut of 20 different games played by around 20 million Facebook users.

Zapak displays an array of virtual goods that are up for grabs for the millions of users playing these games. The fact that many customers would look at online purchasing of such virtual goods lets us know the manner through which Zapak would earn its revenue. Known as ‘whales’ these frequent gamers, however small in number, would undoubtedly generate great profits for the online gaming company.

Besides the usual payment via international credit cards by 6waves, Zapak aims at broadening payment options for local gamers through netbanking, Zapak pin codes and credit cards. This would create a comfortable and easy platform for customers to make their online purchase on games.

This road goes further. The launch of a social channel by Zapak on Zapak.com will spearhead an effective online promotion for all 6waves games. Zapak, along with the help of FM Station Radio City has also launched a Radio which would allow gamers to stream their own music while gaming.

Zapak has surely put up a challenge to overtake the other online gaming giants in the industry. Zynga, are you listening?

Digital and media world experts believe that the social gaming industry outlook is full of immense promise and potential. Social gaming, they are sure, will create a relevant context for users to form meaningful new relationships and stronger connections. We shall witness more innovative social gaming applications this year.

Action-packed games on social networking websites are a perfect avenue for those seeking a vibrant social experience, binding the social networking consumers online. The popularity of gaming is fast rising as denoted by the success of Teen Patti in ibibo and FarmVille on Facebook. Users flocking these popular social networking sites want to compete and win. The gaming websites bring likeminded people together on a single platform and thus provide a great opportunity to buzzing brands.

Social gaming has clearly left behind the once-popular console games. Online gaming firms believe social networking sites are now a backbone of the entire gaming industry. In fact, social networking websites have made the overall gaming experience a more fun and fruitful social experience as it lets players spend time with real-life competitor-friends.

Of course, getting the formula right is easier said than done; it’s as much a science as it’s an art. Apart from getting the plumbing absolutely precise plus the infrastructure to ensure product growth, it is imperative to iterate on user feedback on pro-actively optimizing for retention. It’s vital to keep them constantly engaged.

For example, ibibo is striving to create social gaming applications that are locally relevant. The company has large tractions for exciting social games like ‘Teen Patti’ and ‘Great Indian Parking Wars’ that are social in nature. They appeal to the masses. The former, for instance, is played by over 1,00,000 players every day on ibibo.

What do you fancy more on the virtual turf – being an IPL team stakeholder, making some gains by disposing Kingfisher, or perhaps enhancing your Axe instinct to woo fantasy women? It’s time to have fun online with advergaming.

Subtle advertising messages in the shape of virtual games are becoming fast popular as an effective tool with marketers. Largely driven by the increasing popularity and demand for social networking based games such as Mafia Wars and FarmVille among the youth, leading brands are joining hands with gaming firms.

Brands like Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, UB Group and Canon are trying to create games for prospective customers online. Even the IPL has entered this unique brand-building arena. Signifying the trend, Zapak Digital Entertainment of ADAG group have launched advergames on Axe brand from Hindustan Unilever and SUVs of M&M, namely Scorpio and Bolero Stringer.

Advergaming is a clever departure from the earlier one-dimensional banner ads. Zapak Digital Entertainment now comes up with 4-5 advergames at least, every month. According to the CEO of Zapak, Rohit Sharma, it’s a win-win scenario for all, as brands are able to communicate their product offering to target groups whereas the users get to play interesting games.

Other players in the fray like UTV’s Indiagames and leading social networking website ibibo too are creating catchy advergames for youth-centric brands. ibibo web has developed games for Garnier, Airtel and Vodafone. Advergaming has gained currency owing to the wide popularity of engaging social network games like FarmVille on Facebook.

According to marketing experts, social gaming helps engage the brand with the end user. It triggers viral marketing. No surprise, marketers using smart advergaming strategy to create buzz about bold and brash brands.

Hey, we are just talking about games in here! We just wanted to say that new games launched by the Indiagames.com are actually taking over the nation.
India is full to the brim with Fanatics! Now, when I say fanatics, I mean true and loyal and die hard fans. When it comes to the love for their hero, the sun only shines when Rajnikanth kills the last of the two out of 50 goons with a single blade divided into halves.

The big screen has been long been imbibed and inculcated as a part of life by the people, where its just not a medium of entertainment or a world of dreams, but also a break from harsh reality. While watching one of your favorite movies, there would have been a time when you wished that you were the protagonist of the movie and would have lived out the thrill of doing the action scenes in it. Well, we see why not. I always wanted to be Leonardo Di Caprio from Blood Diamond, with a little change of scenes of course.

Well for people like you and me, who actually do cry when the hero does eventually die, no need to worry, I say. Because Indiagames.com newest launches let you run like Charlie from Kaminey even if you have a sign of wealth (read belly) and you don’t need a license to test your driving and bike riding skills through the chaotic streets of Mumbai plus at the same time you get to be a cop. And how can one not want to be a cowboy, after all that’s attached to the mighty cowboy myth!

Indiagames.com gives you a golden opportunity to be a silver screen sensation with their games on movies and its action packed scenarios. They have announced the launch of three mind boggling games based on the recently released films – Kaminey, Quick Gun Murugun and Aagey Se Right – to be played on your mobile phone.

A quick glance at how you can be all of them-
For all those who like to run virtually, there’s the thrilling Kaminey with its scenarios of chases, fighting cops, taking risks and hitting the rival gangs. The game replicates the role donned by Charlie, the protagonist of the movie.
For the ones who like to play it really ‘rancho’, you have Quick Gun Murugun- A cool game based on the film Quick Gun Murugun, the central cowboy of the game! The game tests the player’s shooting speed and reaction time. The player, who is a cowboy, has to swiftly shoot the enemies appearing in the area using a desert eagle pistol, before they try to shoot him. Now that’s what we call an Indianized cowboy HEEEHAAA!!!
And for those who have never tipped a cop, you have Aagey Se Right- An action-packed nonstop bike racing/pursuit game based on Aagey Se Right the movie. The game-play tests the player’s driving skills, speed and reaction time while he rides his bike through the chaotic streets of Mumbai city. The player dons the role of the cop, which is the central character of the film.
Movies in India have always had a huge fan following and by offering such exciting games to the rapidly growing base of mobile gamers will provide an excellent opportunity to extend the movie experience to an user’s mobile screen. And since many more “bolly-flicks” are to follow in order to promote and drive downloads as well as make alternative revenues for their movies, it seems that many movie buffs will be able to relive their favorite movie experience on their mobile screens! Clever. Very clever, I say.
These 3 games can be downloaded from the content portals of all telecom providers in India.
