Acer has claimed that the new Acer Ultrabook model is slimmest Ultrabook to ever be created. Acer has recently introduced this model in US markets along with their new offering Iconia tablet. The company has also announced a new cloud storage service named AcerCloud. AcerCloud, like all its cloud compatriots will allow the user to sync data across all the devices and computers. A positive feature of Acer Cloud is that it is not limited to only Acer products.

The new ultra slim book is a 13.3 master piece measuring 15 millimeters in thickness. The battery life is subsequent at 8 hours. The new Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook will have a set of ports identical to a MacBook Air.

Although the new Iconia tablet had a brief introduction, it is believed to have a 1920×1200 screen resolution. Acer Cloud was another eye catcher which has been launched to counter the giants like and Apple iCloud. This feature can successfully sync photos, videos, music and documents across your devices.

Acer Cloud service may come in action by the second quarter of this year. Acer loyalists are eagerly awaiting this new service.

Microsoft is appears to be unaffected with the prominent death of the sixth version of the Internet Explorerand had celebrated the same with a cake. The software company kept a cheerful celebration and at the same time, they also happened to reveal that Internet Explorer was being used by less than 1 percent of the total internet users of U.S.A.

The reason for the company’s happiness is the fact that they have been waiting to abandon the older versions and coax

users to upgrade to the latest versions which are IE8 or 9.

While one would have expected a pensive mood at the Microsoft headquarters, in contrast it was actually upbeat mainly because the usage of the product has dropped below 1 percent.

Microsoft has stated that they hope all developers and other IT professionals would understand that IE6 is now a ‘low’ priority browser and would be a waste of time to continue working on a browser that is as outdated.

United States has joined the likes of Poland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway as well as Finland which already had a usage that was less than 1 percent.

In a bid to make the microblogging service easier, Twitter has completely redesigned its website. Apart from this, TweetDeck, iOS and Android apps have also undergone major changes. With the new interface, the tweet window is pushed back on the right side of the screen. On the new Twitter Home page, tweets appear on the right side and do not use much space as before.

Twitter has also added 3 new buttons – Home, @Connect and #Discover, which can be seen at the top of the page. #

Discover shows the trending topics and directs you to notable videos and stories. On the other hand, @Connect displays people who have mentioned you in their tweets. It also suggests some accounts that you may want to follow.

For fans as well as professionals of the Indian Radio Industry, the future seems to bring in a lot of good news. According to industry experts, the Government’s FM License sale could be the biggest thing that could happen to the Indian Radio Industry.

The license agreement allows for the opening up of close to 800 FM Licenses. This makes it a great opportunity for new players to enter the market and for existing firms to grow their business.

The plan by the Government is called as the ‘Phase 3′ license auction. The auction is planed to generate revenue of close to $400 million for the Government. Phase 3 will take place at some time in the second half of 2012.

There are going to be significant changes under the new scheme. Firstly, the auction allows for 227 new cities to enter the market as compared to the current 86 cities. Firms are allowed to operate multiple stations in one market.

There have been several other changes as well. Some of the significant ones being the fact that the licenses for the radio stations have been extended to 15 years from the previous limit of 10 years. Permission will also be given to broadcast news bulletins on the stations and limits for foreign investments will be extended.

Earlier, Radio used to be the biggest form of media in India, but with the television boom, the radio industry had to take a backseat. Over the years, the television industry in India has developed significantly.

On the other hand, the radio industry has not been able to match the growth rate of TV. Though many private players have entered the radio sphere, there has hardly been an upheaval for Radio in India.

With the new development, many experts believe that the new rules will let private players come in the same league as the Government owned All India Radio (AIR) and they might even be able to provide tough competition to the TV industry.

This is the first time that single men as a target audience has been studied in detail. It is an lucrative segment of the market as this segment is more inclined to buy digital products because of their higher purchasing power. The study was carried out with the help of Market research firm Synovate

Kenneth Andrew, the Marketing Director for Microsoft Advertising said,

“The pre-family men market has undeniable influence with 20 per cent of pre-family men being classified as innovators and early adopters. With the immense growth seen amongst this group, brands and marketers need to understand their value, and how they think at the different stages of their lives or their career. These insights will enhance marketers’ communication strategies, allowing for better engagement with this highly valuable segment”

According to the study, 40% of the single men use laptops for social networking and 35% use desktop PC’s. A mere 20% use their smartphones for using social networks.

When it comes to gaming, Smartphones take the cake with 56% of the target group using gaming apps on their phones. 35% people play games on home consoles while 33% play on portable consoles. Another important observation was that majority of the target group use laptops and PC’s for business over entertainment.

Jon Wright, Regional Director of Analytics for MEC said that the study was conducted to find out the type of devices that single men use and when, why and how they use them.

With Microsoft’s latest innovation, the Windows 8 coming up, this study might just help them in engaging better with the Asian Market.

In a bid to attract more users to download applications on their cellphones, Research in Motion (RIM) has started phasing out the latest version of the BlackBerry App World.

The new version, which will be known as the App World 3.0 has a lot of changes when you compare it with earlier versions of the software. Apart from being faster, the entire look of App World has been changed.

In order to make the whole navigation experience easier, App World has introduced a new search bar which can be seen at the top of the screen. Applications can be filtered according to price, rating, latest releases etc on the newly added widget.

Another major change that can be seen on the software is the introduction of various channels dividing the applications for easier downloading. Now, apps, games and themes have separate tabs which can make browsing easier and more specific.

A new feature called as MyWorld has also been introduced which helps users to keep track of their downloads and notifies them when an update is available for an app.

BlackBerry has added another option with which users can share apps via email, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The new version will be available on BlackBerry OS 5.0 phones and other newer models. Current BlackBerry users will get notifications of the update in a couple of days.

With Apple’s iPad and iPhone taking a lion’s share in the market with their hugely popular App Store, this new attempt by BlackBerry has just made the war of the Apps more interesting.

Gadget lovers who picked up the HP TouchPad after the price cut seem to be getting another sweetener. The immensely popular Android operating system may soon find its way on the TouchPad.

CyanogenMod, a firm that creates specially designed versions of Android for portable devices has managed to run a version of the OS on the HP TouchPad.

A video posted by CyanogenMod on the Internet shows the Android 2.3 Gingerbread version on the HP TouchPad. The experimental OS run was moderately successful as there was not touch screen functionality for the loaded OS. The software has to be run manually using a external remote console.

The team at CyanogenMod said in a letter posted on the RootzWiki website said that their next step will be to make the OS run with touch screen functions on the TouchPad.

“Our ultimate vision is to create a multiboot solution where the end user will be able to boot into Web OS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other Oses” read the letter by CyanogenMod.

Though no release date of when this could be possible was given, the developers did mention that it would take a long while for its launch.

With tablet manufacturers trying hard to place their foot in the OS market, HP can take a big leap ahead in sales if the lucrative Android OS does make it to their TouchPad tablet.

Take a look at the video posted by CyanogenMod to see how the OS runs on the TouchPad.
