Alexa, a web information and Analytics site, revealed statistics that the users visiting Junglee.com viewed nine pages per visit on an average and were spending approximately seven minutes on the site each time they logged in. Alexa also stated that Ebay.in patronisers generally spent a little over 10 minutes on the site while those who visited Flipkart.com had an average of 8 minutes.

Mahesh Murthy, CEO and Founder of Pinstorm, said,

“It’s very interesting to note how Amazon’s Junglee.com has been able to draw visitors to its site within a few days of launch and without spending any rupee on marketing or traffic building. E-commerce sites in India need to take notice of this.”

Unlike the parent site in the U.S., Amazon.com, Junglee.com has been designed and is being used as an online market arena. It has entered partnerships with many online as well as offline retailers like  Hidesign, HomeShop18, The Bombay Store, Dabur Uveda, Snapdeal, Saholic, Fommy.co.in, Univercell and Spice Group firm.

While the Group Chairman and the Managing Director of Gitanjali Group, Mehul Choksi, has agreed with the trend that Alexa reported, he also stated that the company is extremely happy with the partnership with Amazon.

Meanwhile, the other online industry players are not exactly perturbed by these figures as they say it is too early to make a conclusion as the site was launched only four days ago. They have attributed the website traffic to the attraction that a new site gets when launched.

In a mere 6 weeks after releasing Firefox 9, the web browser, yet again surprises users with its latest version called Firefox 10. The Firefox 10 supports Mac, Windows, Android and Linux machines. The rapid release policy adopted by Mozilla corporation has seen six updates of Firefox web browser in past nine months.

iBooks textbooks offers iPad users interactive diagrams, photos, videos, animations and unrivaled navigation. To deliver titles to iBookstore, Apple has partnered with known education services companies like Pearson, McGraw-Hill, Miffin Harcourt and Houghton.

According to Apple, the iPad is durable, portable, searchable, interactive and capable of storing richer content thus, making it a perfect counter. Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller said,

“Kids are really going to love to learn with iBooks”.

Along with iBooks 2, Apple also announced iBooks Author, a free app available in the Mac App Store. They are on the roll. Now this simple app allows Mac users to create iBooks cookbooks, textbooks, picture books, history books, and what you may, to publish on iBookstore. Apple said that publishers and authors can use Apple-designed templates and start creating iBooks.

Adding text and images to iBooks is as simple as dragging and dropping. Moreover, multi-touch widgets allows users to easily add interactive 3D objects, Keynote presentations, movies, photo galleries and a lot more.

The Nike+ Fuel band is overloaded with a host of features. This device helps you measure activities using a metric value called ‘Nike Fuel’. This wrist band has an ergonomic design and can be worn throughout the day. It provides you a calculated result of your activities through movement of your wrists. Nike’s CEO and President, Mr. Mark Parker explained the idea behind developing this tool and its benefits. In a press conference held at an event in New York, he said,

“The Nike+ FuelBand is a way for Nike to further evolve the exciting possibilities of merging the physical and digital worlds”.

This new wristband was also promoted by reputed athletes like Lance Armstrong, Carmelita Jeter and  Kevin Durant.

This hi-tech wrist band can be synced with your iPhone over Bluetooth or can be connected to a computer via USB. This wrist band can be pre-ordered from Nike’s official website and would cost $149 (Rs.7,496).

This new wristband is an attempt to enhance personal performance by keeping a track of daily activities. Although this idea is not new to the table, it certainly is a positive move as far as the sports industry is concerned. It has designed to function through a website on a basic set of rules that can be created by you. The writing of these rules requires the knowledge of neither computing software nor web designing; it can be written in plain English.

For example, one can make the rule that “WHEN the moisture sensor gets wet THEN tweet, ‘The basement is flooding!’”

So we see that programming the device to use such social media is not so difficult.

The advancement in nanotechnology has made it possible for you to have an entire medical lab reduced down to the size of a high-powered chip. If you are not impressed by this, then the fact that you can perform diagnostic tests within minutes and on the palm of your hand, will definitely have your jaws dropped by now.

Researchers are working hard towards creating a nano sized lab that performs a variety of tasks.  These tasks signify conducting multiple diagnostic tests, which would take an entire team of doctors, at least, a week to provide results.

The Guardian, in their article, “The incredible shrinking laboratory or lab-on-a-chip”, states that Professor Tom Duke of the London Centre of Nanotechnology is working on a “lab-on-a-chip” to test HIV. The amazing part here, is that in this chip, nanometer-sized pillars separate a drop of blood in such a way that the larger elements such as blood cells and proteins are trapped. The virus particles then pass through this trap where the come across a series of levers that are coated with antibodies. These antibodies then tend to bend when hit. The more they bend indicates the amount of virus present. This is just one application that the lab-on-a-chip possess. There are many other features that are also present.

The debatable topic here is that, as highly promising as this new device may seem, it is way too expensive to go on a large scale production. This is the main reason as to why it is not available in many hospitals. We all hope that the pricing of this medical marvel reduces, if it is done, then be rest assured to hear much more about it. The lab-on-a-chip device will work wonders for medical purposes in poor or under developed countries or areas, where visiting a fully equipped lab is not possible. Besides this, the next main matter of concern is the precision of this device. Most consumer products are released with correctable flaws, but this is not possible in the medical field.

For now, it is safe to say that the lab-on-a-chip has definitely increased the chances of detecting any kind of health related problems at an early stage, thus making an epic contribution towards saving lives.

Today, Samsung launched its new phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note on a live stream that could be seen on the popular social networking website Facebook.

The webcast, which was carried out in association with livestreampro.com, started at 2:00 pm IST and went on for about an hour. Samsung had even held an interactive online competition where some lucky winners would get a free Samsung Galaxy Note.

The device is one of a kind as it a smartphone with the elements of a tablet PC. The phone has a 5.3 inch display screen. The phone runs on the Android Gingerbread OS with Touchwiz 4.0.

The Galaxy Note also offers some other attractive features like an 8.0 mp camera, 16 GB internal memory, Bluetooth 3.0, Wifi and GPS. For increased speed hte hardware also supports a 1GB RAM  and a 1.4GHZ dual core processor. The phone has been priced at Rs. 34,990.

The livestream was a moderate success. Though many people turned up to watch the event, there was hardly any interaction between Samsung and the viewers. After the event, there was no response from Samsung for various questions that users asked.
