In recent times, one of the biggest controversies to hit the online medium is the whole Facebook issue. Well, that has finally been resolved, for now.
Just weeks ago, Facebook announced their new terms of use, which irked the users to a great extent. Only after hundreds of thousands of users protested, did they actually go back to the earlier terms of use.
Over 175 million people use Facebook, and the new terms were very unclear as to what right the users would have over information uploaded onto the website. What the new terms did state was that Facebook had the license to copy, use, publish, store, retain, transmit, scan, edit, translate and distribute anything uploaded by the users. Obviously, nobody was very pleased with this, thus the outcry.
Once users figured out what was happening, many protest groups were formed, with hundreds of thousands joining these groups. This caused Facebook to backtrack and take back the new terms.
Facebook, of course, have taken the defensive, and have insisted repeatedly that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. So, whom do we believe now?
