In a recent survey carried out by StatCounter, a leading Internet statistics provider, Google Chrome is shown as the second most popular browser in India. Chrome is the Internet Search Giant Google‘s flagship browser and has had a good response worldwide since its launch.
According to the survey, Mozilla Firefox is the most used browser in the country, but Google Chrome usage is growing at an alarming rate compared to earlier. Following
Chrome is Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which used to be the most used browser up until last month.
Statistics show that Firefox has a 32.97% market share while Chrome closely follows up with a 31.75% share. When you compare it with its initial market share of just 10%, the change is significant.
Experts feel that Google Chrome is gaining rapid success due to a number of reasons. Faster speed, better technology and mass awareness through media campaigns are some of the major reasons that the browser is being adopted by Indians.
The Indian technology market has been a very lucrative one since the last couple of years. There are more than a 100 million Internet users in India and the number is growing at a steady rate.
The adoption of Chrome in India has been a topic of concern for competitors since the last two years. In 2009, Chrome had managed to garner a 22% market share. With the current stats, it looks like Chrome can soon overtake all other browsers.
