If you are yet drooling over the Apple iPhone’s touchscreen with the multi-touch command feature then its time you know about SideSight.

Microsoft takes the touchscreen concept way ahead with its futuristic prototype called SideSight. Microsoft researchers have developed a unique system that lets cellphone users control the handset placed at a distance by simply moving their fingers around it. Google showcased the prototype at the User Interface in Software and Technology symposium in California this year.

The system functions on infrared sensors that pick up finger movements till 10 centimeters away. The prototype lets users drag, rotate and modify images by coordinating their fingers. This prototype is sure to change the user experience but is still in its early stage of development.
