A host of utility-based and even trivial apps are now available. They are a perfect combination of services and products to facilitate personalized experience on your mobile phone. Pre-loaded apps for tasks like managing daily grocery or repelling mosquitoes is a case in point.

To get rid of mosquitoes, a mobile phone module that uses light & sound created at a specific frequency can be employed. Mobile device maker Micromax believes that a mosquito-repelling application loaded on its low-cost devices will receive a good response from users, whereas software major Infosys that has entered the domain of mobile applications development is working with a retail partner to unveil an app that would efficiently manage your grocery list.

Infosys is closely following the fast-evolving mobile app economy. The firm is working with established partners on a range of productivity and utility-driven apps. Infosys is also looking to develop apps that will let users book, rent as well as schedule their taxi pick-ups (essentially, GPS-controlled vehicles) from almost any part of India.

With already more than 500 million subscribers, growing by approximately 10 million every month, mobile networks have become a major distribution platform for the purpose of delivering data, services and products through innovative applications for mass consumption.

Indeed, now mobile apps can perform almost any job. Most productivity driven apps give a blend of useful technologies with functional or practical benefits that fulfill various professional or social commitments. No surprise, retail, Media, pharmaceutical sectors and even government agencies are approaching app developers for creating use-based mobile apps.
