Close on the heels of introducing N96, Nokia has unveiled its new plans to take on the might of Apple’s Iphone and other competitors like G1 and Samsung Omnia. The Finish handset manufacturer is all set to launch a new Iphone style touch screen phone dubbed as ‘Nokia 5800 Xpress Music’ and also an iTunes like online music service called ‘Comes with Music’

Music Phone + Online store – this seems like a combined strategy to take on competition in the very lucrative music phone market. The service will come preloaded with Nokia 5800 and Nokia 5310 Express Music handsets, giving its users an unlimited access to all the tracks from the store at no cost for an entire year.  That’s not all, users can keep their DRM protected downloaded music even after the access period is over

The offering designed as ‘free service for a year’ is bound to generate buzz and boost initial sales. Nokia 5310 bundled with ‘Comes with Music’ services goes for sale in UK from 16th October. There is still no clear indication of when the new touch screen 5800 handset will be launched, though some reports suggest as early as next quarter.

With this, Nokia is smoothly stepping into a new profitable role of being a music service provider apart from being a handset manufacturer.

Will Nokia be able to dent Apple Iphone’s market share? Is the question on everyone’s mind. That seems likely if Nokia can keep the momentum going, adds a comprehensive collection of tracks to its library and offer a fair price to users after the free 1 year period.
