TeliaSonera has rejected the $40 billion offer from France Telecom. This instantly affected the Nordic telecom operator’s shares which dropped 135 to 43.30 Swedish crowns. But on the other hand France Telecom shares rose 7.3%. The prime reason of the nullified deal was money.

The senior government officials have stated that the 3G auction will not happen before November or December this year. A couple of months ago, telecom minister A Raja had assured to announce 3G guidelines by June. But looking at the current situation, the deadline has well passed and the government has failed to keep its promise. Also, it seems doubtful that Raja will be able to take a quick decision from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh before the coming week or so regarding 3G.

Telecom secretary Siddharth Behura informed reporters on the sidelines of a telecom summit that people are buying Blackberry and there is no threat from its services.
