Reliance has added another feather in its cap! BIG Entertainment’s movie rental service, BigFlix.com has made the Hindi comedy movie, Hulla available for download on its Video on Demand (VoD) site for rent and purchase. Non-resident Indians will now be able to own the movie at $4.49, and the rent it for just $1.99 (including users all over the world).
Hulla (released on September 19, 2008) is a comedy by Jaideep Verma, starring Sushant Singh, Rajat Kapoor and Kartikadevi Rane produced under the BIG Pictures banner. It is about two stockbrokers, one in the big league and the other who is a small time trader who will not let the former sleep at night. (Well you can watch the movie for the rest of the story.)
BigFlix boasts about offering its customers access to the movie online on the same date of the theatrical release. It is a big leap for the company to release a big banner movie such as Hulla online as the company also plans on hosting more new releases in multiple Indian languages in the future. But yet Reliance has a tough competitor in terms of Rajshri Media. The Rajshri content offering and user base is vast, and BigFlix is yet trying to aggregate content.
This seems like the perfect time for VoD and online rental entities to create novel; solutions in turn revolutionising the Indian scenario.
