In a bid to go one-on-one with the world’s largest mobile manufacturer, Nokia, Vodafone announced its launch of ultra-low priced mobile phones – Vodafone 150 and Vodafone 250.
Nokia, the leading mobile company, earlier voiced its decision to introduce the world’s cheapest mobile phones priced at $10. However, Vodafone accelerated its move and beat Nokia to this new release at the Mobile World Congress 2010 held in Barcelona, Spain. Since this event is known for spreading news regarding the latest technologies and products in the market, Vodafone viewed the MWC as the perfect platform for its proclamation.
The monochrome-displayed Vodafone 150 that supports various applications including ring tones, quad-band GSM networks, alarm clock and own games, calculator, currency converter and a flashlight mode, will be priced at an astounding $15 (700 rupees). Its battery life boasts of 5 hours talk time and standby up to 10 days. Remarkable yet real!
Vodafone aims at introducing these models to varied markets including India, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Ghana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Qatar, South Africa and Tanzania. This could definitely skyrocket Vodafone’s current position in the mobile industry.
