With Social Media becoming an integral part of the modern business structure, it becomes important for students of management to understand its concepts and correct use.
Keeping this in mind, the University of West Virginia has started a special online course in Social Media studies. The objective of the course is to show the various advantages of the booming concept in developing business communication.
With the course, the University will guide students through the various ways in which they can use networks like Facebook, Twitter and other social media websites to develop interactivity with clients and customers which will help in the growth of effective marketing.
The University believes, professional workers will be the major target audience for the classes. The course will be a non-credit option and participants will receive a certificate on completion.
Director of Communication, Lynn Reinke, said that many professionals are aware of the potential of Social media, but do not have an idea of how to use it effectively.
According to Reinke, ”These classes could be a good thing for a business student to have on a resume, a lot of professionals may want to learn more about social media before making a decision to use it or not”
