“Change is constant”. Well, presently Yahoo feels the same as it gears up for its homepage makeover. The best part about the entire makeover is that randomly chosen visitors from the UK, US, India and France will help the web giant re-design its main page.

The chosen few will then direct Yahoo (with their feedback) on different ways to present information and application to its regular users. Yahoo aims at increasing visitors, improving ad revenues and minimizing clutter on the homepage through the current revamp. Unlike its last overhauling in 2006, the new homepage will go further with personalisation tools letting individuals using My Yahoo build their own start page.

The Yahoo team is even using a content optimisation engine which recommends content. With the changes visitors will be able to include add-on programs to a particular application bar. This application bar offers visitors with instant access to frequently used services like e-mail, social networking sites and video portals. The application bar will even offer third parties programs in turn offering instant access to their services. The testing process with random visitors (and their feedback) will end in a few months and users will be able to access the new, overhauled look.

With the revamp and tightly tuned content Yahoo aims at restoring its fortune.
